On the Subject Of

INSPIRATION

The word Inspire, derives from the Latin word inspirare, it literally means to breathe or blow into, I like to think of it as if life is being breathed into something, it can also be explained to be the thing that sets creation in motion.

I am here because you inspire me.

Deeper Dive

It is true I wouldn't be here if not for feeling inspired by you, who show up at my workshops saying you have never been creative or "I'm no good at art," Then you turn around and create the most beautifully moving piece I have seen! Or I see you out there in the world doing what you love and I feel in return "inspirare"!

That is why Water's Edge Fiber & Dye Studio exists! I work with fibers, plants and the myth, braided together to form the textiles I create. Here at my studio and beyond I offer natural dye workshops, create one-of-a-kind fiber art, and design custom textiles inspired by the beauty of the natural world.

Storytelling and my love for the natural world become woven into the textiles and workshops I offer. When not experimenting in the studio, you can find me  walking the water’s edge and down forest paths, drawing inspiration from the other than human world.

My hope is that my workshops help participants reconnect with nature, unlock their creativity, and discover the magic of botanical dyes.

My journey in textile arts has been deeply enriched by years immersed in Norwegian culture, hands-on experience in textile and custom rug design, and leading Messenger Rugs, where I developed a line of meditation rugs. These rugs were hand-knotted in collaboration with a small, family-run workshop in Nepal. Today, I integrate my studies in Mythology and Depth Psychology with my background in textile design to bring greater depth and creativity to the natural dye workshops I offer.
